Children of the Sun: An Odu Story

Inspired by medieval Africa, Children of the Sun is a fantasy story detailing the collapse of the most powerful matriarchal empire on the fictional content of Yahwu. The book focuses on its three main protagonists: Orisa, a young princess; Taiwo, a teenage former criminal who is now an apprentice to the Imperial Historian; and Desi, a young warrior set to be the next personal bodyguard to the Kemet (Queen/King). As the book progresses, the three separate storylines converge, and a fuller picture is painted of the Odu Empire and the supernatural crisis facing it. Themes such as the legacy of colonialism, the complexity of personal morality, and the value of cultural pride when weighed against progress, are all explored in the context of an expansive and character driven story.
